The Apple “Let’s Rock” event has come to an end and there were really no big surprises. The biggest thing is the newly designed iPod Nanos. It looks exactly like the photo that was leaked a few weeks ago. The iPod Touch also got a minor redesign and a big drop in price. The thing that intrigued me is that Nike+ is integrated into the Touch. That makes it slightly tempting. The biggest one is still 32GB. I still think that’s not enough for me. When they release the 64GB version, I’ll have no more excuses.
iTunes 8 was also released. The Genius bar is the main new feature. It suggests songs for you to purchase based on the song you are listening to. It can also create a playlist based one of your songs. It’s not bad, but Apple needs to add more songs to their database. The very first song that I tried was Handlebars by the Flobots. It’s a very popular song and yet the Genius did not know it. I ended up making a list with Great DJ by the Ting Tings. It was a good mix.
AppleInsider is already reporting that there will be another release announcement in October. This time it will be the MacBooks. I still think the MacBooks won’t be announced until Macworld 2009. If you missed the keynote, you can watch the stream here or download the podcast here.
